Rakel is a producer at Vesturport, Icelandic Film and Theatre Production Company. Im also an Eco Warrior and founded the movement VAKANDI to increase food waste awareness. With my company Vesturport I have traveled all around the world and experienced many exciting things. One of the things I have experienced is how lovely our planet is. And how crucial it is for us to protect it - so that the upcoming generation can experience the exact nature and beauty as I have done. I'm also what they call an Eco-Warrior, and in 2013 I founded the movement VAKANDI, mainly to increase food waste awareness because of my concern about pollution and poverty and how stupid it is to throw away all these valuable resources. I have worked closely with the Icelandic government, with businesses in Iceland, and with the school system… to name a few. I have appeared hundreds of times in the media, written a book, made a documentary, and I could go on and on… In 2021 I was honored with The Order of the Falcon from the president of Iceland for my work towards the environment and food. Something I’m very proud of as that is the highest honor that the Icelandic state can bestow on individuals. I'm the founder of Verandi ( www.verandi.is) Verandi is an Icelandic skin product manufacturer and retailer. Born out of a passion for protecting the environment - we strive to work with nature instead of against it. Verandi is one of the first skin product manufacturers that emphasizes using raw materials that would typically be wasted in its products. We upcycle quality ingredients for the health of the planet and you! I’m a member of the animal welfare campaign to call on the Icelandic government to halt all whale hunts
