


In 2004 a play by Vesturport is set aboard a small fishing vessel just off the coast of Iceland and revolves around the conflicted five person community that the crewmembers share. Dreams and thoughts roll around in the heads of the men aboard as the ship plods through the restless dark sea. A bittersweet and comical tale of human beings.
Brim premiered in the Vestman Islands (a settlement of 4000 inhabitants and the main base of the Icelandic fishing industry) on 20. february 2004 and then performed at various rural settlements throughout Iceland before opening in Reykjavík.
Brim received rave reviews from Icelandic theatre critics and audience and was invited to participate in the Wiesbaden Theater Biennal - Neue stucke aus europa in June 2004.
Brim won the Icelandic “Gríma” Theater awards as “Best play”. Nominations included “Performance of the year”, “Scenery”, “Best direction” and Ólafur Egilsson was nominated for “Best leading male role”.
Later in 2009 the group came together and made a movie from the stage play´s storyline.
