The play tells the story of Faust. Faust is in his senior years when he discovers that his life has not been quite as happy as he would have liked. Mephisto tempts him and says he can introduce him to true happiness in the sweet life of fun and pleasure.
Faust accepts the offer and makes a bet on the condition that if he finds happiness under Mephisto's guidance, the devil will possess his soul. The bet only becomes ambiguous when Faust meets the pure, innocent Greta who is drawn into this eternal struggle between good and evil.
The show portrayed amazing spectacles and high-flying scenes. Fresh artistic perspectives are found on the material. Director Gísli Arnar Garðarsson's vision is unbridled and takes flight with the actors in Axel Hallkel Jóhannesson's unconventional set design. The original music by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis then sets the tone for the work.
