VIGDIS is based on the inspiring true story of Vigdís Finnbogadóttir who, in 1980, made history not only as Iceland’s first female president but as the world’s first democratically elected female head of state. The 4 part series tells Vigdis’ story from when she was a teenager in the late 1940s up until she decides to run for president against three male candidates in 1980.
